Why a HockeySled™?
The HockeySled™ removes the need for multiple off-ice exercises that try to mimic the hockey stride. This revolutionary training device takes the workout onto the ice. The HockeySled builds all the major leg, core and upper body muscles in just minutes per session. It provides the resistance to assist a hockey player in developing their explosive stride. Coaches, trainers and hockey players will witness results immediately while having fun and being challenged at every practice.

We recognize that ice time is very expensive and a hockey coach, trainer and player have limited time on the ice. The HockeySled was designed with this in mind. The HockeySled can be used by one player and then very quickly transitioned over to the next player, to make sure that valuable ice time is not wasted.

Hockey Sled Model 1 - off-ice
This model is used for strength & conditioning off-ice. The off-ice model has all the same features as the on-ice model but with a ridged plastic bottom surface intended for off-ice conditions. An excellent off-ice training device  to help a beginner to intermediate hockey player learn the fundamentals of the hockey stride off the ice. The HockeySled develops their muscle memory regarding posture and stride mechanics. The off-ice model will also help advanced hockey players build and develop all the major hockey muscles to increase top-end speed, first step acceleration and strength on-and-off the puck. The durable plastic bottom is to be used on synthetic ice for hockey skates and or roller blades. It can also be used on smooth black top/asphalt or tennis court like surface. If used on a rough textured pavement the bottom will wear down over time.

Hockey Sled Model 2 - on-ice
The on-ice model weighs less then 8 pounds when empty for easy transport. Made from very durable plastic, same plastic and process used to make plastic sea kayaks. To increase resistance and control-ability, the HockeySled has a very durable rubber textured bottom.  Select the resistance level by how much water you add to the HockeySled. When completely full, you have 50 pounds of resistance. Engage the HockeySled with any standard hockey stick. Insert the blade of your hockey stick into the center channel, get strong on your stick, get low and use your inside edges of your skates to push the HockeySled forward. This center channel design allows for easy transfers from hockey player to player. Pushing the HockeySled builds all the major hockey muscles (wrists, forearms, upper body, core, quadriceps and hamstrings) to increase top-end speed, first step quickness, transition power, strength on-and-off the puck and improves your balance and posture.

Recommended Resistance Chart:
  • Mini Mites & Mites - 1 to 2 gallons of water = 16 to 24 pounds of resistance
  • Squirts & PeeWees - 2 to 3 gallons of water = 24 to 32 pounds of resistance
  • Bantam & Midget - 3 to 5 gallons of water = 32 to 50 pounds of resistance
  • Junior, College and PRO - One full Sled to Two Filled Sleds Stacked = 50 to 100 pounds of resistance

Great Hockey Sled Drills:

Warm-up drill: This is adding resistance to the typical counter clockwise warm-up skate before practice. Take 2 to 6 Hockeysleds and put them across the center red line with the channel facing the skaters. Each player takes their turn pushing the sled once around the rink. After each player gets done with their lap they have had a great warm-up workout.

2 Sleds around the rink: The skater pushes one HockeySled and while pulling another sled. This give the skater up to 100LBS resistance workout.

Backward skating drill:  Hooking up the sled with the pull option you can also pull the sled while skating backwards. This build different muscles then pushing or pulling the sled forwards.

Snake drill for upper body strength: Put your whole team in one corner with multiple sleds. Once the first skater pushes the sled past the first cone you send the next skater with a sled. The skaters weave between the cones and behind the net around the rink. Going between the cones makes the skater build his or her wrists, forearms, shoulders and chest. When the first skater finishes he exchanges the hockeysled with the next skater in line. Once the whole team completes the course have the team switch corners and run the drill again.

A second way to engage the HockeySled is with the pull kit option. The pull kit provides the user with resistance while skating hands free and or stick handling to increase strength on and off the puck. Another advantage of using the pull kit is the ability to build your backward skating and transition muscles.

Testimonials:

“I believe that the Hockeysled can help any hockey  player further their development!”
Mike Hartman, 16 year NHL Professional Hockey Player

“I have only used the HockeySled a couple times and I’m looking forward to working with it more in the future to help me develop a more explosive stride. It really worked my core, quadriceps and hamstrings after only pushing it for 10 to 15 minutes each session. I would recommend this on-ice training device to all hockey players of any age or skill level. If he or she is serious about improving their speed and endurance this is the solution. It is a very practical way to get a on ice workout which is critical for hockey players. Its an all around great workout for an on ice session and really develops a strong powerful stride. I think it is an Awesome Training Device!”
NickSerafini, Center for Belle Tire Midget Major AAA

“My son, Troy has been using the HockeySled for two years with Coach Kirk and I have seen major improvements in his overall speed and strength. Without the practice sessions with the HockeySled I don’t think he could have made the travel hockey team after only one year of mini-mite hockey.”
Hockey Mom: Amy Johansson
