The goaltending position is fascinating isn’t it? So many dynamic movements occur within such a confined space with very little room for error. Today I want share a very simple, yet super effective, lateral agility drill for goalies.
Think of it this way, you are following the play as the puck is moved from along the boards, to center ice and over to the far wing. As a goalie you will shuffle, shuffle, shuffle to stay square to the play.
Then the puck is quickly passed rink wide to the shooter ready for a one-timer off the opposite face-off dot. Not time for a shuffle, you have to get post-to-post without hesitation. What’s equally important is getting there in a balanced, ready position.
