HockeyShot’s Bench Boss Coach Jeremy is at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto, Ontario with another Skill Series episode. The first part of today’s session is all about how to improve your puck feel, and he found some of the Buffalo Regals team to help show you how it’s done!
A great trick when practicing your stick handling on all parts of the blade is to work with a golf ball or even better, the Swedish Wooden Ball or Extreme Stickhandling Ball from HockeyShot. The Buffalo Regals do this before every game, and Coach Jeremy uses them to demonstrate the certain way you can use the golf ball to get the feel of the puck. Try passing a ball back and forth as a team, it’s a great team hockey drill and can help in understanding the different parts of the blade of your stick.
Coach Jeremy shares an awesome tip by using opposite color hockey tape to help highlight the toe, middle, and heel of the blade. This tip combined with Coach Jeremy’s Yo-Yo Drill and Backhand Toe Drill will help you get a great feel for where your puck is at all times during the game.
We’re not done sharing how HockeyShot products can be combined with Coach Jeremy’s hockey drills to improve your game all year round! It is important to not only focus on your position in hockey, but also your angles. Lots of players use the same angles which can be a tell for the goalie. By switching up your angles you will not only become a better player but also get more goals. Be unpredictable!
The drills covered by Coach Jeremy will help you in three different on-ice situations. First by switching up the angles in tight to your stick, when you are in the slot and those times you are squared off to the goalie in close to the net. Coach Jeremy uses the Hockey Shot Crowd Goes Wild Shooting Tarp to demonstrate the difference between what you see and what the puck sees. By practicing seeing the net from the eyes of the puck you have a better chance of beating the goalie and finding the back of the net.
It is important to stay creative in how you change your angles, and one of the best ways to practice this is by switching up your shooting lanes. By using the Hockey Shot Extreme Passers you can train how you set up your shooting angles and see where your game needs improvement. Coach Jeremy and HockeyShot believe that experimenting and making mistakes is the whole point of training. When you see where you make your mistakes that means you can improve, and with the help of Hockey Shot Product Line-Up that can be very exciting!
